practiced and learned the “Just Be You” yoga rules - listen and watch, practice, breathe, be playful and “just be you” while remaining on our mats.
engaged in a breathing exercise while observing a Breathing Belly Ball (Hoberman’s Sphere) - breathe in the belly expands (Hoberman’s sphere becomes big.) - breathe out the belly deflates (Hoberman’s sphere becomes small.).
engaged in a Rainbow breath to wake up our mind and body.
mindfully listened to a sound from a synergy bell to focus our attention for the duration of the sound.
discussed the true meaning of yoga - yoga is everything we do and say - yoga is life - we will practice different yoga poses, engage in breathing exercises, dance, play games, sing, chant, read books and most of all show our creativity.
learned physical movements associated with animal actions and expressed feelings to correlate with those actions;
listened to a book called “My Many Colored Days!” by Dr. Seuss and practiced the feelings and animal movements as each animal was introduced in the book.
played a guessing game - what’s inside the bag? - 3 rules - listen, shake and guess (bell).
engaged in a mindful exercise - practiced how to focus the mind in the moment and pass the bell to a friend without ringing it.
tapped to the sounds of Sa Ta Na Ma (3x out loud, 3x whisper, 3x quietly to self) - a relaxation technique to settle the mind.
met our breathing buddies - our buddies will support us in the upcoming weeks to relax and breathe while remaining quietly in a seated position or lying down position (do-nothing pose).
shared our current state of feeling during our feedback circle - how are you feeling right now?
