Today we . . .
practiced and learned the “Just Be You” yoga rules - practice, listen, breathe and enjoy.
engaged in a breathing exercise while observing a Hoberman’s sphere - breathe in the belly expands (Hoberman’s sphere becomes big.) - breathe out the belly deflates (Hoberman’s sphere becomes small.).
positioned our bodies and focus in a “Show Me You Are Ready” posture and took 3 collective breaths.
discussed the true meaning of yoga - yoga is everything - yoga is life - yoga also brings us joy.
learned and practiced two yoga poses to correlate with the characters in the story - elephant pose (forward fold) and pig pose (happy baby).
read “We are in a Book” by Mo Willems - book emphasized the joy of being read.
explored the meaning of being joyful by expressing happiness through a smile on our face.
learned a new breathing technique - breath of joy - standing in mountain pose (tadasana); arms rise up as we inhaled; arms lower down to hug self as we exhaled.
relaxed with our breathing buddies while engaging in a do-nothing pose - sitting silently for two minutes.
shared what made us feel joyful in our first yoga class during the feedback session - “Pass the Squeeze.”
and acknowledged our gratitude for our first yoga class - “I shine my light in you as you shine your light in me. Together we are joyful as we light up the world. Namaste!" - thank you;
