Today we . . .

manipulated and stared at magical glitter wands to help us focus our attention. 

learned the term mindfulness - being present in the moment - right here, right now.  

read “What Does It Mean To Be Present” by Rana DiOrio - a book about mindfulness.

engaged in four mindfulness activities to help us be in the moment - fidget spinners, flower connectors, coloring and sensory balloons.  Each child had a choice where to begin.  (session 1).

engaged in one mindful activity to help us be in the moment - flower connectors - children manipulated and connected the pieces to create 3-dimensional objects, i.e. tunnel, tree, flower, etc. (session 2).  

practiced a mindful breathing exercise - SaTaNaMa - 3x out loud - 3x whispered - 3x quietly (session 1).

practiced various breathing exercises as we pretended to be different animals, i.e. bumblebee, bunny rabbit, frog, lion, and dog (session 2).  

and acknowledged our gratitude - "Namaste" - thank you; “I shine my light in you as you shine your light in me.”
